Prior to 1929 Studied Romance languages. 1931 Middle-school teacher in Aarau and Zuoz; first furniture designs. 1932–38 Continued education in graphology, astrology, religious philosophy, and design; began work in metal design. 1941 Participated in a course on metalworking in Zurich.
