More about »Gerrit Rietveld. Die Revolution des Raums«

Das Buch »The book "Gerrit Rietveld - The Revolution of Space" is the first comprehensive monograph on Rietveld's work in the German language. It is published to accompany the exhibition of the same name at the Vitra Design Museum in Weil am Rhein. The chapters are arranged thematically and deal, for example, with Rietveld's relationship to De Stijl and the Bauhaus, but also with less well-known aspects such as Rietveld's social housing or his preoccupation with industrial production. In this way, they trace Rietveld's career from his humble beginnings as a cabinetmaker to his final years as a famous architect. The Rietveld-Schröder House, one of the few buildings from the twentieth century to be awarded the status of a UNESCO World Heritage Site, has its own chapter dedicated to it. The publication is supplemented by numerous photographs and high-quality reproductions of plans, drawings and sketches as well as a chronology of Gerrit Rietveld's most important works. A fundamental work for researchers and laymen alike - and a must for all fans of classical modernism!
